Welcome to the Studio!
My name is Kate Mousavizadegan and I am the excited owner of and teacher at Joyful Sounds Music Lessons (JMSLessons.com) in Yorktown, Virginia.
I’m happy you’re checking out my website, I look forward to hearing from you!

My Musical Background-
I began studying piano in second-grade which led to becoming a church organist, at the age of 14 and accompanying the high school chorus as an eighth grader.  By the time I was a junior, I was coaching voice and singing leads in our high school musicals; eventually, I won a full-tuition voice scholarship to college!  There has been such joy in my journey; but there even greater joy for me now as I share my gifts with others through teaching.

Teaching Philosophy-
My philosophy of teaching centers on the notion that every single person has innate musical ability. My pleasure derives from helping each student discover exactly what that is for him or her. No two people learn at the same pace or in the same way; the fun of teaching for me is discovering what that is for each student.

My Goals -
I am continually engaged in the study of state-of-the art teaching techniques through participation in virtual music conferences and webinars, through actively participating in local and national music conferences, and keeping up with and putting into practice current educational teaching philosophies. Besides my professional goals, I am in the market for a small, gentle-spirited rescue dog, play with the ‘littles’ in my life, and am trying not fall asleep while watching movies.
